A goal of Edmonton Public Schools is to focus on student engagement through 21^st Century literacies across the curriculum.  At Michael A. Kostek School we promote student engagement through the following best practices:

• Our goal setting and assessment program
• Inquiry based teaching and learning
• The effective integration of technology

We believe that students have many talents and have many opportunities for their involvement in the school beyond the classroom. They can choose from clubs and activities related to athletics, fine arts, service, and/or leadership.

Staff set high standards for student behavior and these expectations are communicated consistently across the school. Our character education program reinforces these expectations and underpins the relationships between staff, students, and parents.
